Sir Michael Caine was 31 when his film career finally took off in 1964 thanks to 'Zulu'. He quickly became the biggest male star of British cinema and an icon of the swinging sixties. Caine guides the viewer through the period when the gray British class society was bursting and London would be bathed in (psychedelic) colors. Caine chatted with contemporaries who stood front row during those turbulent times: Paul McCartney, photographer David Bailey, model Twiggy, singer Marianne Faithfull and so on. Batty may be the director, but this is mainly a film by Michael Caine about his memories and observations in his incomparable storytelling style.
